Darwin Masonic Precinct Incorporated manages a small library of books and other publications related to Freemasonry, for the use of Freemasons in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
It was initially developed and managed by the Leichardt Lodge of Research, however when that lodge was no longer sustainable and handed in its warrant, DMPI eventually assumed management of this resource.
Like all management functions within DMPI, the library is managed entirely by volunteers.
Top End Masonic Library Help Notes
Book Collection
Our book collection is small, numbering about 900 items.
It is, unfortunately, somewhat dated and it contains too many duplicates. That said, the percentage of recently published items continues to grow. It would be a mistake to assume that an old book is of little value - especially in the field of Masonic research.
Ars Quotuor Coronati
Our collection of the Transactions of Quator Coronati Lodge No. 2076, UGLE, is by far our most important aspect of the library. It is a complete set of annual volumes from its initial publication in 1886 up to the present.
Although not easy to search, time spent in doing so is normally time well spent.
Searching the Library Collections
1. With the mouse cursor in the window, type Control-F.
2. A small search window will open in the bottom-left corner (Firefox) or top-right corner (Chrome).
3. Type in a simple search string; e.g. ritual.
4. Your search term will be highlighted. Use the Up and Down arrows in the search box to scroll through the retrieved list.
5. Record the Call Number of the book you choose, e.g. 04.02 CRY and then search the shelves to retrieve it.
6. If searching online from home, email the required item's Title & Call Number to the librarian – librarian@darwinmasonichall.org.au
- including your name, contact details and Top End Lodge.
