The English Country Dance classes have been running at the Darwin Freemason Hall, at 23 Stokes Street Parap, NT, for more than ten years.
We do very gentle dances, as seen in the BBC series Pride and Prejudice and other Jane Austen based films. ECD is also called Playford, named after the most important dance master of the 17th/18th century.
Classes are currently held on Tuesday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm. All comers are welcome, no prior experience is necessary, nor is a high level of fitness.
This dancing is suitable for mature age people as well as young adults interested in more traditional dance.
The first session is free, after that a very modest charge of $8.00 applies for the two hours.
It is a great way to meet new friends, to maintain and gain mental stimulation in company.
